Since forming in late 2021, the band has steadily refined its identity through a series of singles and an EP, pushing toward an increasingly heavier and more ambitious direction. Ashes of Perishing is a five-piece modern metalcore band from Helsinki, Finland, born from reinvention rather than convention.

Although the band’s story officially began in late 2021, its roots reach back several years earlier. Guitarist Joonas first stepped onto the local metal scene in 2016 with a thrash metal project that would eventually evolve through multiple lineup changes and an ever-growing desire to push beyond its original boundaries. As new members joined, the band’s sound gradually shifted from thrash towards groove metal, while increasingly embracing the intensity and emotional weight of modern metalcore.

When guitarist Valtteri joined in late 2021, it became clear that the project had outgrown its former identity. Rather than continuing under the same name, the band made the decision to wipe the slate clean. The previous chapter was laid to rest, and from its ashes emerged Ashes of Perishing—a new name, a new vision, and a new beginning.

Rather than chasing trends or recreating the sound of established acts, Ashes of Perishing focuses on writing music that feels honest and organic. Their sound combines crushing breakdowns, dark atmosphere, cinematic tension, memorable choruses, and relentless energy into something unmistakably their own. While influences from modern metal are naturally present, the goal has never been imitation, but creating a distinct identity that continues to evolve with every release.

That identity found its strongest form with the arrival of vocalist Oskar in the summer of 2024. His lyrical approach became the foundation for what would eventually grow into The Void—a conceptual universe that extends beyond the music itself. Rather than simply serving as a recurring theme, The Void represents an ever-present force within the band’s world: an endless space between collapse and rebirth, where despair, obsession, transformation, and hope coexist. Each release reveals another fragment of that universe, allowing the music, visuals, and storytelling to form one connected experience.

Having released several singles and an EP, Ashes of Perishing has continuously refined both its songwriting and artistic direction. Their latest singles, Rapture and Voidwalker, mark a significant step forward, showcasing a darker, heavier, and more ambitious vision that reflects the band’s current identity. Each new release builds upon the last—not only musically, but also as another chapter within the world they continue to create.

The band has brought its high-energy performances to stages across Finland, including Helsinki, Lahti, Turku, Imatra, and Kotka. Their biggest milestone so far came in 2026 with an appearance at Tuska Festival, further cementing Ashes of Perishing as one of Finland’s emerging modern metal acts. On stage, the band combines raw intensity with an immersive visual identity, turning every performance into more than just a concert—it becomes another descent into The Void.

With new music constantly taking shape and their artistic vision growing stronger than ever, Ashes of Perishing continues to push forward without compromise. The mission remains the same: to create modern metalcore that is authentic, emotionally charged, and unforgettable—both through the speakers and on the stage.

Every song is another transmission. Every show is another descent. The Void is only beginning.
